Little Slow Poke : Haley Madeline

We waited for our little slow poke for 41 weeks and 4 days and on June 20, 2012 at 1:32pm, Haley Madeline arrived. If you haven't heard the song "Little Slow Poke" sung by Pee Wee King, it captures our birth experience perfectly (thanks Papa T for singing it!):

You keep me waitin' till it's gettin' aggravatin'
You're a slow poke
I wait and worry but you never seem to hurry
You're a slow poke
Time means nothin' to you
I wait and then
You're late again, eight o'clock
Nine o'clock, quarter to ten

Little Slow Poke :)

Here I am at 41 weeks, waiting for our little girl and making breakfast for the family. I knew I would be induced on Thursday but was hopeful she would come early.
Our birth story is a LONG story so I am going to spare you all of the details. Basically, my body was not doing what it needed to do on its own so I was induced. It took me from Monday night until Wednesday morning to be in the right place to start pushing.  It was uncomfortable and painful at times but it was more than worth it.  I pushed for 3 hours and finally our little girl arrived.  We could not believe how big she was (1/2 an ounce under 10 pounds!).  Isn't she beautiful? We think so.
I could not have gone through the pain, discomfort, emotions, and waiting without my love Zach.  Honestly, this experience has been deepening for us in our love for each other and I am more appreciative of the man I married.  And to see him love me through this experience so selflessly and to see him so naturally love our little girl just makes me melt.  Once again, he is my rock and stable support.
It is amazing how your baby knows her mama from the start of life outside the womb. Amazing!
Our little slow poke came in her time and it was God's perfect time.  She has taught us to wait and to trust, it is amazing how God is using our little one in our lives already.  We love you so much baby Haley!

40 Weeks, Waiting and Happy

I am 40 weeks (well actually as of today I am 40 weeks and 2 days).  Baby L is taking her sweet time and mommy and daddy are learning patience and flexibility as parents already!  I don't want her to come before she is ready but I cannot wait to hold her and see her.  Overall, I have been feeling pretty good.  I sleep really well at night and during my daily 2 hour nap (hehe, yep, that's right).  I have some aches and pains but in general, I don't feel miserable or dying to not be pregnant.  I am happy.  Happy to have had a healthy pregnancy and growing baby for 40 weeks.  Happy to spend some time with Zach before it changes dramatically.  Happy to sleep, because I know I will never really sleep again!  And happy to daydream about my baby girl and when she will arrive.

As you can see, this baby has taken over my body (and my heart too).  Anyone want to guess on what Baby L's birthday will be??

Baby L's Nursery!

First, a little update...
Tomorrow is June 9...my due date!  I thought I might feel sad or disappointed that she wasn't here by that date but I am feeling pretty content.  I have had so many people come around me and encourage me...it makes it so much easier to go with the flow.  I am patiently waiting with excitement knowing that she will come when she is ready.  It is just another day on the calendar and until she does arrive, I can spend my time enjoying Zach and a slower paced life.  Zach and I have a special date night planned for June 9 to celebrate making it to 9 months.  I am so thankful that we have had a healthy pregnancy thus far and that our sweet baby girl is still growing strong.  Of course there is a side of me that cannot wait to hold her and see her little features.  And, if I am being totally honest, I do get nervous (and maybe scared sometimes) when I think about all of the unknowns of labor and delivery.  I am a lucky lady to have Zach...he is the voice of calm reason when I have those moments.

Enter Pretty Nursery
I love Baby L's nursery!  I mean LOVE!  I think it is the prettiest room in our house and I find myself wandering in there throughout the day, with Payton of course.  I am so excited to share it and its completion with you all!
Welcome to Baby L's World (soon to be)
And of course, Payton wanted to welcome you as well...
I couldn't get her to leave while I took pictures :)
Close up on her beautiful crib!
I LOVE the damask crib sheet and special blanket made by Aunt Becky and Nana Ne.
We bought some frames from IKEA and put some pictures of mommy and daddy in them for her to have.  We want to replace a few with pictures of her when she joins us...aaaaa....cannot wait! I am putting something special on that shelf that has to wait until she arrives ;)
Here is the other side of her room...LOVE her dresser! She also has a special quilt made by a family friend with vintage fabrics (love it Peggy!!).

Here are a few close ups.
 LOVE these little shoes! ADORABLE.
I am still working on the cork board...
not sure what to put on it or how to configure it just yet.
Baby L's little chair with soft blankets and pillow.
My grandma made the one on the right, just lovely!
Little side table with family picture.
I hope you all enjoyed taking a peak into our little girl's room.  I love how elegant and shabby chic it is.  Once baby gets here, I know I will love it even more because it will smell like her and be filled with her little baby noises!  I can't wait to share her birth story and pictures of her once that time arrives.  Stay tuned!!

Little Peak Into the Nursery

We are nearly done with the nursery...it feels great!  I will have more to post in a day or so but Payton wanted to share one of her new favorite spots with you (and give you a sneak peak into the nursery).  She thinks it is her new, beautiful room.  I find our socks hidden in there all of the time.  This is her typical spot, just chillin on her new bed...aka the softest rug ever!

More to come soon and hopefully some more important news to come soon as well.  I am 40 weeks on Saturday so we should be welcoming this baby girl home within the next few weeks.
