Haley's first birthday is over and I find myself reminiscing about last summer. Life with a newborn was low-key and so new for us. Her birth changed our lives and she carved a spot (a large one) in our hearts forever. Even though there is some sadness thinking about how quickly Haley's first year went by, we are fully enjoying our one year old. She is exploring the world more and more and she is expressing her growing personality. We are in love.
Now onto the birthday bash of her year :) I had very limited time and was way too distracted to take the kind of pictures I wish I would have...oh well.

| Yes, this is her cake outfit...outfit change ;) |
Love how she has been crossing her feet lately!
The theme was "Oh, the places she'll go!" and I had everyone sign her Dr. Seuss book to give to her at her high school graduation. I loved the theme and focused a lot on hot air balloons and clouds and we had a picnic to boot!
Easy DIY outdoor chalkboard!
Hot air balloon photo booth...I couldn't have chosen a worse place for bad lighting!
I am ONE!
Sweet baby girl.
Yes, I ordered that huge poster (I thought it was much smaller)...
Dessert table, minus the cake...
Time consuming but adorable hot air balloon cookies.
"Oh, the places she'll go!" Birthday cake.
We had a scavenger hunt for the kiddos. There were little ones that probably had no clue what was going on, but we made it work. Ended with a pinata so everyone enjoyed the fun!
Cousin Love...
I was surprised at how involved Haley was with the presents. She is one loved little girl with some super cute new clothes and fun toys!
It's Cake Time!
She really wasn't into the cake...she even shook her head no and did not want to eat any more!
After some time out of the spotlight and sitting with the cake longer, she starting playing with it more...but I would say she is not in love with eating cake...so weird ;)
Dearest Haley Baby,
Mommy and Daddy are so very proud of you. You are a sweet, determined, beautiful little girl. You certainly are getting better at expressing yourself and communicating that you want or need something. You are finding your voice but have a little timid side that is also adorable. Sometimes it can take some work to get you to crack a smile when you are with new people, in new places, or being more serious. But with those you are most comfortable with, you laugh and smile with ease and your playful side is so very evident. You love to have some routine in your life but we (mostly mama) are finding that you are more flexible than we (I) give you credit for. You are a smart little girl that figures out little puzzles quickly and you say a plethora of words (mama, dada, papa. dede, nana (lala), bye bye, hi, i love you (you try, it is cute), quack quack, baa baa, that, this, and you just started trying to say please). You love to mimic dancing, singing, words, and sounds. My favorite thing to do with you is dance, sing, and cuddle at nap and bedtime. You love all foods that are introduced to you but are picky with spoon fed. I could go on and on with how we are proud of you and how much we absolutely adore you. My prayer for you is that you continue to find your voice and use it to share God's love and grace with the world. I pray that you never doubt who God has made you to be and that you find people in your life to treat you with love, honesty, and kindness.
Happy First Birthday Haley baby! We love you!
