And The World Spins Madly On...

I knew life would change drastically after Haley joined our world.  Despite the lack of sleep, I find my life full and I can say that I am truly happy.  If you catch me when I first wake up from a nap you might think I am a bit cranky (not unlike pre-baby), but I am happy.  And what I love about the happiness from marriage and from parenthood is that it is deep and life changing.  I am faced with growth and constant learning that teaches me more about selflessness, true love, and deep joy.  It is not always perfect or easy, but it is full.  I hope to continue to look at the world through these lenses, even when it is stressful and difficult and filled with constant change (or sleepless nights!).

We are loving our sweet baby Haley...she is so tiny!
We have been spending family time together on evening walks.  Haley loves the stroller and it is amazing to see her new eyes take in the world outside.  It is crazy to think that she is seeing it all for the first time.  What a privilege to be able to be apart of her exploring the world!
I can tell Haley is becoming more and more independent each day.  Today she decided to actually interact with her toys and enjoy the musical mobile! It was adorable to see her coo, kick, and smile as she played.
As I have already said a million times, I wish I could slow down time.  Haley is 5 weeks old, growing fast, and the sun sets earlier each day.
The world spins madly on...so let's enjoy what we are given in this life.

One Month!

Haley is officially one month old and growing everyday!  She is cooing, holding up her head, looking around, and studying our faces intently...I like to think her smiles are at me but supposedly she is too young for that.  She knows my voice and her daddy's voice.  I love that she is turning out to be a cuddle bug.  I can't wait to see more of her personality and growth over the coming months (and maybe to get a little bit more sleep).

I think she is such a cutie!

My busy little bee is growing up so fast and it is amazing to see her explore the world around her.  I hope I can enjoy each moment, both wonderful and challenging.  Life is too short not to take advantage of each second.

Cows and Food Comas

Zach and I ventured out of the house on Friday to get free Chick-fil-a...but of course we had to dress up like cows first!!  I think we look pretty awesome!
As you can see, baby Haley was in tow...we start 'em young on frugal living with a twist :)  Plus, for a new mom (as in me), it was fun and felt great to make light of life and laugh with my husband over chicken and french fries!
We also went to church for the first time and she did great.  I loved having her wrapped up in the Moby carrier so I could sing worship songs into her ear and sway to the music.  It was such a refreshing reminder of our greater purpose in life, especially as parents.  Being a mom is beautiful and challenging and oh so important.  I am learning how to give and love with selflessness to my family.  There are moments that are especially difficult, like getting no sleep (!), but I am thankful to be learning this life lesson.

On another note, I love seeing Haley in her happy food coma :)  She cracks me up!

Loving Little Haley

Haley is 3 weeks old today and she is growing SO fast!  Not only is she getting bigger, but it is amazing to watch her confidence grow in little ways.  Being a mom is an experience that is difficult to explain.  I love her so deeply and want her to grow but there is a side of me that wants to keep her swaddled up in my arms for a little bit longer.  Today, she was ready to take a short little nap in her crib...she looks so tiny in it!  And I had no clue what to do with myself.  I spent the time wandering around the house waiting for her to cry but she was perfectly content and asleep.
Side note, I thought I would show you all the finished product of her name on the wall.  I bought block letters from Hobby Lobby, cute paper, and then modge podged the paper on them.  Cheap, easy, and in my opinion, pretty cute!
I am tired (sleeping for only about an hour or two every few hours at night) but oh so happy!  I love being a mom and I especially love being Haley's mom.  As an added bonus, I get to dress her up in bows and ruffles...isn't she cute?  I love the ruffles!

Two Weeks of Life

I get teary when I think back to her birth and these first two weeks of her life.  I cannot believe how quickly the days are flying by.  Her life was once only hours old and now she is over her two week benchmark.  I am more in love as the days and weeks go by.  Each day (and night) brings new lessons with it and when I think I have learned something about her, she changes before my eyes.  One thing I know for sure about my sweet baby Haley, she loves to cuddle, sleep, and eat.  And when she is awake and looking into my eyes, my heart grows deeper with a new kind of love.  Even though she is only 2 weeks old, I already feel such a burden for her little heart.  I have been given a precious gift with Haley.
Haley had her first bath at home.  As you can see, she didn't really enjoy it so much.  Is it bad that I think she is cute when she cries (even though at the same time I can't stand it!)?
She was much happier once she was wrapped in her towel all cozy.
Daddy was home for her first week and a half in the world.  It is amazing to watch my husband love our baby and care for both of us.  I am so thankful that he got some sweet time with his little girl before going back to work.  She loves to hold onto his fingers when they cuddle :)
So at the start of baby Haley's 3rd week of life, I am thankful.  Thankful for new life and love.
